Use the Abstrax Tech Gellies Mixing Guide to make the best-tasting cannabis gummies the industry has ever tasted.
Some consumers reach for infused gummies because they prefer edibles to inhalants. Others like the convenience, discreet consumption, or because the duration and/or potency of effects best fits their needs. Whether CBD or THC-infused gummies, this product category is here for the long haul.
The issue? Sometimes, infused gummies taste like trash.
That might sound harsh, but if you’ve sampled your fair share of weed gummies, then you know what we’re talking about. From weird off-notes to that unpleasant penny taste, infused gummies aren’t always enjoyable. And it’s not your fault! There’s not a one-size-fits-all method for crafting cannabis products, and infused gummies have simply never had a dedicated flavor solution… until now.
Not only do manufacturers now have a flavor solution made specifically for CBD and THC-infused gummies, but this solution is also designed to pair with AI Terp Effects. That means you can leverage the Entourage Effect for the yummiest, most effective gummies the industry has ever tasted. The best part? We’ve got a Mixing Guide to walk you through the entire process.

Gellies: Flavoring Made Specifically for CBD & THC Gummies
The flavors and aromas of cannabis are varied and complex. There’s dank and skunky, fruity and tropical, savory and cheesy, etc. Working with these flavors can be tricky, but when formulated properly they can be delicious and mind-blowing. Here’s where manufacturers often run into problems:
- Using off-the-shelf flavor ingredients that were never intended for use in cannabis products.
- Using flavor ingredients that clash with cannabis’ natural dankness.
- Using too much flavoring in an attempt to mask the taste of cannabis.
With Gellies, these issues are a thing of the past. Gellies are intentionally designed using compounds native to the cannabis plant. Specifically, cannasulfur compounds (CSCs), and tropicannasulfur compounds (TCSCs). CSCs are responsible for the iconic dankness of cannabis, and TSCSs are where those exotic tropical and fruity cannabis notes come from.
Learn more about cannasulfur compounds in The Science of Dank!
Using these compounds with our innovative Cloudburst Series technology, we’ve created an ingredient solution that infuses gummies with flavors that harmonize with the naturally occurring flavorants found in cannabis. What does this mean for you? No more unwanted off-notes — just the BEST tasting CBD and THC gummies with complex, enjoyable flavors.
Making Weed Gummies: Getting Started
Before getting started, it’s important to make sure you have all of the required tools and ingredients and that you’re following all recommended safety procedures. We understand how exciting it can be to formulate gummies, but something as simple as forgetting a piece of personal protective equipment (PPE) can make or break a successful product.
While there may be some ingredient variation depending on whether you’re making regular or cannabis-infused gummies, here are the ingredients we recommend to get started:
- Abstrax Gellies flavors
- 250 Bloom Gelatin
- White Sugar
- Corn Syrup
- Deionized (DI) Water
For infused-gummies, you’ll want to select a high-quality cannabinoid solution. We recommend Liquid Diamonds, THC in a water-soluble emulsion, or water-soluble THC powder. There are benefits to each option, but they require different dosing practices. So, be sure to select the option that best fits your facility and product requirements.
One of the innate difficulties in making cannabis-infused gummies is that gelatin is water-soluble, while many cannabis compounds are oil-based. This can lead to uneven THC distribution which means some gummies will be more potent than others. Obviously, that’s not ideal. That’s why we recommend using water-soluble cannabinoid emulsions to ensure an even THC dispersal throughout your mixture.
Interested in adding functional effects to your gummies? You’ll want to incorporate Abstrax AI Terp Effects. These mood-enhancing terpene blends are flavorless, odorless, and optimized to deliver specific effects like relaxation, energy, and more. Basically, they let you supercharge your gummies with targeted effects to amplify the Entourage Effect of cannabis.
We also highly recommend including a fixed acid ingredient. Whether you opt for citric, malic, and/or tartaric acid, acids can greatly enhance the flavor experience of your gummies. Citric acid, for example, is the main component in many citrus fruits and the primary acid in many berries. To more accurately replicate the flavor of a specific fruit in your gummies, it's best to use the primary acid found in that fruit.
Making Cannabis Gummies: Dosing Recommendations
At Abstrax, we recognize that selecting the right ingredients is crucial to creating a successful, consumer-friendly product. However, using those ingredients in the proper amounts is also vitally important.
ACID DOSING RECOMMENDATIONWe recommend an acid dosing rate of 1.3% of the total mass, or approximately 3.5 grams when making 100 gummies. Based on our experiments, this creates an average level of sourness. You can easily adjust this by increasing or decreasing the amount of acid used. Make incremental adjustments by altering the acid dosage by 0.15 grams at a time.GELLIES DOSING RECOMMENDATIONWe’ve found the optimal Gellies dosing is between 0.5% and 2.5% of the total formula. For a batch of 100 gummies, this would be between 1.35 grams and 14 grams of Gellies. In the sample recipes found in our full Mixing Guide, we use our preferred amount of 2% (9 grams). Our maximum dosing recommendation is 2.5%. Too much can result in unpleasant tastes or chemical off-notes, so be sure to adjust your doses incrementally (0.15 grams at a time) until you’ve achieved your desired flavor intensity.
Your formulation may vary depending on personal preferences. Maybe you want to increase the flavor intensity, adjust the sugar content, etc. Whatever the case may be, start small so you can evaluate how the flavor profile changes as you increase ingredient concentrations.

Gellies Mixing Guide: Mixing Liquid Diamonds + Gellies + Terpene Effects
Our preferred method for incorporating THC into gummies is through the use of Liquid Diamonds. Liquid Diamonds are 95%+ pure and they’re the most efficient way to add THC effects while remaining flavor and aroma neutral. That means no weedy off-flavors, just a cannabis experience that’s clean and consistent.
- Before getting started, be sure to calculate the amount of Liquid Diamonds you’ll need to create 100 gummies, each containing 5 mg of THC. Need help with the math? Our full Mixing Guide has all the formulation details. For the sake of saving time, though, you’ll need 0.6575 grams of Liquid Diamonds for this recipe.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 93 grams of deionized (DI) water and 35 grams of gelatin. Mix quickly until all the gelatin is thoroughly soaked with water. Set the mixture aside to allow the gelatin to "bloom" for 5-10 minutes before heating. Blooming allows the gelatin to fully absorb the water, ensuring a smooth texture in the final application.
- In a saucepan, measure out 147 grams of corn syrup, 147 grams of sugar, and 19 grams of deionized (DI) water.
- Attach a candy thermometer to the saucepan, ensuring the metal probe is not touching the bottom.
- Heat the corn syrup, sugar, and water mixture on the stove to 250°F (roughly medium-high), stirring occasionally with a spatula to ensure everything is thoroughly mixed. Be careful not to prolong this step, as the sugar syrup can overcook and start to caramelize, altering the color, taste, and texture. The syrup should be clear to light yellow.
- Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, allowing the temperature to drop to approximately 220°F.
- While the temperature is dropping, cut or tear the bloomed gelatin into four equal parts.
- Once the saucepan has reached 220°F, add the gelatin pieces one at a time while mixing thoroughly using the spatula. You may want to briefly remove the saucepan from the heat to prevent overheating. Overheating the gelatin can disrupt its structure, potentially altering the texture and color of the final product.
- When the temperature reaches 200°F, gradually add the Liquid Diamonds while mixing thoroughly with a spatula. It is crucial to add the Liquid Diamonds only after the mixture has reached 200°F to prevent unwanted decarboxylation.
- Allow the temperature of the saucepan to continue dropping to around 120-150°F. This will enable the "scum" to rise to the surface. In gummy manufacturing, "scum" refers to decomposed proteins that can affect the clarity of the gummies. This process typically takes about 15-20 minutes.
- Use a spatula to gently scrape off the “scum” from the surface of the mixture and dispose of it. Ensure the temperature remains low enough to keep the mixture melted. If the mixture is simmering, the temperature is too high and needs to be reduced.
- After removing the "scum," add 9 grams of Abstrax Gellies flavor, 5 grams of your desired AI Terp Effects, and 6 grams of citric acid to the saucepan. Mix slowly and thoroughly until the citric acid is fully dissolved and the flavor is evenly dispersed throughout the mixture.
- The solution is now ready to be deposited into the gummy molds. You can use the Pour and Scrape, Plastic Pipette, Funnel Dispenser, or the Machine Depositor Method. Choose the method that best fits your equipment, expertise, and scale of operation.
- Once each mold has been filled, allow the gummies to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator. The setting process should take approximately 30 minutes to an hour.
- After the gummies are fully set, carefully remove them from the molds and store them in glass jars or your preferred packaging method.
