Top Nostalgic Vape Flavors: Soda, Candy, Cereal, and More

How cannabis vape manufacturers can use “newstalgia” to stand out on crowded dispensary shelves.

Nostalgia sells, and the brands paying attention are already winning. Across food, beverage, and now cannabis, some of the most compelling product launches of the past few years have been familiar flavors in unexpected formats. This “newstalgia” trend shows up as PB&J flavored M&Ms, an Oreo that tastes like chicken & waffles, or lattes flavored like French toast.

Cannabis vape is the ideal format for this. Vapes deliver immediate flavor and aroma, making them one of the most sensory-forward products on dispensary shelves. Consumers notice when vape flavor triggers the memory of fizzy cola, the sugary milk of a cereal bowl, or the sticky sweetness of a childhood candy. The product becomes a conversation.

Nearly half of the top 20 best-selling disposables in Q1 2024 were fruit-flavored or flavor blends.¹ In April 2026, disposable vapes crossed 50% of U.S. vape market share for the first time, making them the majority format in the category, according to BDSA.² Along with consumer preferences and strategic pricing, flavor-forward products helped drive that growth.

Flavor is a category growth driver in vapes, and newstalgia is the sensory differentiator that resonates with consumers well beyond that first purchase.

Why Newstalgic Flavors Are Working Right Now

Nostalgia-driven flavor demand is broad, measurable, and growing. Mintel data shows 71% of U.S. consumers agree they enjoy things that remind them of their past, particularly childhood memories. On top of that, 28% of U.S. consumers say nostalgia makes a food or drink feel like an indulgent treat.³ That’s pure nostalgia, though. Newstalgia makes familiar flavors and aromas fresh through new formats, and it works across generations because it means something different to each one.

Millennials and Gen Xers love to revisit the flavors they grew up with. Gen Z on the other hand encounters those same flavors as something discovered rather than remembered. The same cherry cola, bubblegum, and tiger's blood sno-cone may land differently depending on who's holding it, and each response inspires a purchase. Mintel's 2026 Global Food and Drink Predictions frame this as part of a wider pattern where people are actively looking to the past for comfort and stability in an uncertain present.⁴

Newstalgic products are gaining particular traction in beverages and confectionary formats, according to Food Dive.⁵ Nostalgic flavors paired with new ingredients or delivery formats create what one industry source calls "permissible indulgence."⁵ Cannabis vape is a natural fit for newstalgia. Vapes have a faster, more pronounced sensory payoff than almost any other cannabis format, and when a familiar flavor hits in an unfamiliar context, that contrast is the whole product.

A gummy with a cherry cola flavor is still a food product. On the other hand, when a consumer tries a vape with that same flavor, they’re tasting something nostalgic in an entirely new way. For vape manufacturers, that contrast is a built-in product story. The format does the storytelling, and with the right flavors, cannabis vapes can be the next permissible indulgence.

Newstalgic launches also carry commercial staying power that pure novelty doesn't. Industry analysts now consider newstalgia a permanent fixture in the food and beverage market, driven by cross-generational appeal and the consistent finding that nostalgia-linked products command stronger emotional engagement at the point of purchase.⁶

For vape manufacturers, a flavor strategy with a blend of nostalgia and premiumization is innately stronger than one rooted in constant trend chasing.

Soda Pop Flavors for Cannabis Vapes

Soda flavors already have a proven track record in cannabis. Mary Jones built an entire THC beverage line around the nostalgic appeal of Jones Soda flavors, from root beer to orange cream, and it became the fastest-growing THC product their California distributor had managed, according to Food Dive.⁷ But a THC soda is still a soda. Putting those same flavors into a vape cart is the remix.

Slime Time is built on one of the most recognizable flavor memories in 90s culture: the neon lime-citrus bite of that ghost-inspired juicebox. The aroma leads with supernaturally sweet citrus, followed by juicy notes of berry. It's a conversation starter on the shelf and a repeat purchase once consumers recognize the flavor.

Few soda memories are as specific or as widely shared as waiting at the drive-through window for the bright tropical citrus of a blue, Baja-inspired soda. Baja Smash taps directly into that with a hyper-sweet fusion of pineapple and mango with loud lime and orange. The nostalgia is immediate. The format is new.

Cherry cola is one of the most universally recognized soda flavors across generations, and Fizzy Cherry Cola gives vapes the flavor of sweet stone fruit and the sharp, effervescent bite of cola. It's a clean, high-recognition aroma with strong commercial potential.

Cereal Flavors for Cannabis Vapes

Cereal flavors evoke strong Saturday morning memories of watching cartoons and sipping sweet milk at the bottom of a bowl. These flavors are tied to a very specific childhood moment, and now you can add them to a format that couldn't be further from a bowl and spoon.

Pot of Gold captures that magically delicious marshmallow cereal. It’s creamy, candy-sweet, with a churned milk and butter-pastry base to balance the sugary notes. The sweet undertone reads more candy than fruit, which is perfect for this reference.

Apple Rings has the recognizable taste of that green and orange cereal. Clean apple notes and warm cinnamon spice end with a bready, bakery finish that’s bright and comforting. It’s immediately familiar, but consumers have never tasted it like this before.

For all the lovers of Cocoa Pebbles, a delicate blend of Molten Chocolate Cake and Honey Chaps will give you that perfect blend of rich, dark cocoa and bakery-style sweetness. Together, these flavors land in that special childhood realm of not-quite-dessert, not-quite-cereal, but entirely delicious.

Nostalgic Candies & Snacks for Cannabis Vapes

Candy and snack nostalgia hits differently than cereal or soda. These are the flavors of corner stores and trick-or-treat bags, vending machines and lunchboxes. The memories are more personal and more specific, which makes the payoff stronger when the same flavor arrives through a vape cart instead of a wrapper.

Red Starberry has the iconic cherry flavor of that carefully wrapped candy treat. It’s tart, juicy, and unmistakably sweet with a chewy quality that lingers. The aroma is immediately recognizable to anyone who’s ever unwrapped the wax paper from one of those square candies.

Tiger's Blood is a sno-cone flavor, and that specificity is what makes the newstalgia hit so hard. Watermelon, sweet strawberry, and a smooth hit of coconut combine into something that tastes like summer and the specific childhood moment of standing at the sno-cone stand in the sweltering heat. It’s a flavor most have only ever experienced cold and melting, now arriving warm and immediate in a vape.

Peanut Butter & Jelly is not a candy flavor or a treat exactly. It's a lunchbox flavor, which makes it personal and memorable. The aroma leads with nutty richness, followed by soft berry sweetness, and it lands in “comfort food” territory without veering into dessert. It's an unexpected flavor that’ll get people talking at the dispensary counter, and posting about it on social.

Nostalgic Terpenes for Newstalgic Vapes

Listen! You smell something? It’s the supernaturally sweet citrus aroma of Slime Time! This blast from the past is full of juicy berry notes, neon green nostalgia, and extra-dimensional levels of deliciousness.

Blast into an exhilarating world of effervescent tropical soda. Just one taste of this hyper-sweet fusion of pineapple and mango with loud lime and orange, and you’ll be shouting, “Yo quiero Baja Smash!”

Vibrant cherries add an entirely new dimension to this iconic cola flavor. Enjoy every effervescent tickle of tart, candy-like fruit with ribbons of dark syrup and vanilla sweetness. There's just nothing like a Fizzy Cherry Cola.

The blend is complex. It’s jam-packed with sweet little nuances carried along on the swiftly moving current of creamy goodness. The sugary undertone is more candy than fruit, a direction that works very well when combined with the churned milk, butter-pastry base.

Here's an all-time cereal classic. Combination the familiar, comfortable apple flavor and perforates its predictable consistency with upticks of nutty spice. Add in a healthy dash of bready, bakery note and voila. Where's the milk?

Cereal, cereal, and more cereal. There’s the initial, honeyed rush that is bakery sweet but it's quickly rounded out by soft vanilla. Whether you’re a chap, chapette, or unbound by any such chappery, we’ve got some honey for you.

Molten Chocolate Cake is just as indulgent as it sounds. You can practically see the creamy lava-like chocolate slowly spilling from the center of that rich, decadent cake. It’s dark, delicious, and sinfully tempting. Is anyone else drooling?

Unwrap something familiar with the iconic cherry flavor of Red Starberry. This tart, juicy profile has a sweet candy quality that’s utterly irresistible and impossible to forget.

Tiger’s Blood is the tropical summertime favorite you’ve been searching for ever since your first chilly snowcone. It’s bursting with aromatic watermelon, sweet strawberry, and a smooth hit of coconut. Calling it mouthwatering just doesn’t do it justice.

Peanut Butter & Jelly is the flavor of late-night snacks and road trips. Tart notes of strawberry and raspberry elevate smooth notes of peanut butter for an undeniable hit of nostalgia. You can practically feel it sticking to your teeth.
